John Howe

Senior Partner
John Howe studied law in Newcastle and Leeds and worked for various practices around West Yorkshire before establishing the firm in his home town, Pudsey.

Having qualified in 1988, John has gained experience in a variety of different areas of law with marked success. He has had two cases reported in case law reports concerning Children Act proceedings and he holds the record for completing the quickest divorce ever in 5 days. He has conducted litigation in this country and abroad.

John has appeared on TV and he is a regular contributor on local radio. He has appeared in both local and national newspapers in connection with cases for which he had personal conduct, including being responsible for the preparation of the contractual documents for a prestigious development in Bulgaria.

His wealth of experience and his common sense approach has enabled him to build the firm with consummate ease with a significant following around the country. He now practices as a general practitioner predominantly for businesses of varying sizes giving advice on such matters as employment, contracts, succession, mergers, litigation and exit strategies, as well as being able to give advice on divorce, family and other related issues.

Phillip Howell

Partner
With nearly 40 years in the legal profession, Phillip joined John Howe & Co as a partner in 1998. Previously a partner in two firms in Leeds, Phillip has gained a wealth of knowledge in a number of fields during his distinguished career, ranging from property and litigation matters to more complicated cases such as fraud, making him both an experienced advocate in the Magistrates Courts and a multifaceted general practitioner.

Phillip has appeared on National TV and Local Radio in connection with both high profile cases and legal matters of a general nature.

These days, Phillip specialises in Wills & Probate and advising the elderly, Licensing and Residential and Commercial Conveyancing. Phillip is also regarded as having particular skill in dealing with boundary disputes.

Jeremy Atkinson

Partner
Jeremy studied law at Middlesex University and Chester College of Law, qualifying as a solicitor in 1994. With strong personal and business connections in both Harrogate and Leeds, Jeremy worked in two Leeds law firms having been previously articled to John Howe and he subsequently joined the Partnership in 2001.

Jeremy specialises in Family Law, dealing with all aspects relating to divorce, financial settlements, matrimonial property and private law Children Act cases.

John Blake

Partner
John studied at Leeds University obtaining his law degree and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice followed by the LPC at Huddersfield Metropolitan University.

Following a number of years working in the construction industry, John undertook his training at Blacks solicitors in Leeds, qualifying as a solicitor in 2004. John was appointed as a partner at John Howe & Co in 2006.

John specialises in Civil litigation including, Personal Injury claims, construction disputes, corporate and personal debt recovery, neighbour and boundary disputes and Employment cases both for claimant and defendant.

John Lyons

Consultant
John studied at Leeds University and the College of Law in London. He was articled to Simpson Curtis (now Pinsent Masons) and qualified in 1969.

John was previously a partner at Joseph Lester Lyons, and senior partner at Lester, Lyons & Falk and Lyons & Dorsey in Leeds City Centre. Lyons & Dorsey was acquired by John Howe & Co in 2004 following which John was employed as a consultant . John has worked for the whole of his professional life in Leeds and is a well known figure in the Jewish community.

John specialises in residential and commercial property and wills & Probate though he has also undertaken many other areas of law in his long career including high profile murder trials. His many business contacts established over the years in conjunction with his varied work experience provides a useful and complimentary support to the services we can offer.

Glenys Banks

Conveyancing Manager
Glenys has worked in the legal profession since 1982 predominately working in areas covering residential property development and sales and purchases. She joined John Howe & Co as our Residential Conveyancing Manager in 2003 and has established a sizable and loyal client base.

Glenys deals with both freehold and leasehold property matters both for developers and individuals and has extensive experience in dealing with government assisted housing schemes.
